About the Craft and Artisan :About the Artisan: Asharam hails from Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. He is carrying forward the tradition of Chanderi weaving from father to son. He learnt the craft of chanderi weaving from his father, Shri Kamal Singh at the age of 15. Asharam now has around 50 artisans working under him and over 50 traditional pit looms to create masterpieces. Chanderi weaving is a strenuous yet beautiful process which seeks inspiration from the natural world including motifs such as swans, fruits, paisleys and more
