About the Artisan : Jeenu Panika from Kotpad, Odisha is a young generation artisan in natural dyeing. Panika women in Kotpad are dyers and men are weavers. She is supporting more than 25 women and 15 men. Jeenu is also Kamala Devi Puraskar Awardee by Delhi Crafts Council 2018. About the Crafts: Kotpad is the name of a small weaving village in Odisha. It is identified for its unique rich vegetable dyed reds, browns, and blacks and motifs. Kotpad fabrics are traditionally woven in thick hand-spun cotton yarn on pit-loom and naturally dyed with the roots of the Aal (Morinda Citrifolia) tree.
