About the Craft and Artisan :: Kaluram Verma, a papier mache artsist based in Rajasthan’s Nalu village, started practicing the craft in the year 2002. A former puppet maker and artist, he used to raise awareness by showcasing stories with morals, for children, using the puppets.
Procedure: Newspapers are melted by soaking in water for about two to three days, then mashed used hands to get a powdered form. Methi is then added to the paper pulp to make a strong dough out of the mixture. A variety of products are made like penstand, name plate, coasters, showpieces, diya using mitti, wall hanging using ply, etc. making tourists their largest customer base.
