Description
About the Artisan : Mohammad Dilshad learnt the art of weaving Chanderi sarees from his father after he was forced to drop out of school at a young age due to difficult economic circumstances. Slowly, he mastered weaving and was awarded by the Ministry of Textiles in 2010. He was also awarded the National Kabir Bunkar award in 2011-12.
About the Craft : Chanderi emerged from the Chanderi region in Madhya Pradesh and are produced from three kinds of fabric: pure silk, Chanderi cotton and silk cotton. The fabric is then adorned with traditional designs of floral art, peacocks and geometric patterns in gold and silver zari.
