About the Organization: Leather Vyavsaya Kalyan Sansthan was established by Ram Ratan Ji in 1972. He received design and marketing training from Tilonia Barefoot College to make new products like bags and wallets. The organization supports 12 families, where men do pattern cutting and give the structure and women do stitching. The product range includes tote bags, sling bags, wallets and diary covers.
About the Craft : Leatherwork is a 300-year-old craft and was the main occupation of the Regar community of Rajasthan. They were experts in the tanning of hides and making strong leather products like mojaris(shoes), dhol, saddles and harnesses for animals. The leather stitches have a characteristic diamond shape that adds to the elegance of these leather products.
