About the Artisan: Bodh Shawl was founded in 1972 by Paljor Bodh in Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, to provide fine-quality weave and employment for local women. Today, they support over 150 artisans and over 100 are women. Their product range includes handwoven shawls, stoles, jackets, ponchos, and suit sets made from merino wool, yak wool, angora wool, silk wool and bamboo wool blend.
About the Craft: Originating from Kullu region, the woolen shawls are known for their vibrant colors and geometrical designs. The narrow colourful borders are called ‘patti’. Pattis are woven on a separate low-standing loom made especially to weave these stripes. These are mostly crafted in local sheep’s wool, angora wool, merino wool and Yak Wool.
