- About Craft:? Women of Ruaab SEWA are practising traditional skills, learnt from their families or through skill development training.
- About Organization: Ruaab SEWA Artisan’s Producer Company began out of the SEWA (Self Employed Women Association) movement of informal women workers. It brought together domestic embroiderers in Delhi and weavers in Bihar who had been looking for a way to end their economic and social exploitation. Ruaab began in 2009 as an intervention against the abuses and exploitation women faced in the garment supply chain in Delhi. They are supporting over 300 women at the moment.
- In the AMEX Dastkar AT HOME Project, Rema Kumar designed decorative items for a kid’s nursery, using bright pop colours. The design motifs inspired by birds, animals and plants handcrafted in children’s room accessories stimulate senses and thinking.
